Random Adventures of a Single Woman

It Was One of THOSE Days

Yesterday was one of THOSE days. Not those days, THOSE days; a great day! The stars seemed to be aligned in my Aquarian favor and the universe was generating ridiculously positive energy. I don’t know what Mercury was doing (I never did understand the whole Mercury in retrograde thing, although I want to) but I’m sure Venus wasn’t being a pain in Uranus!

I took a leap of faith … a HUGE leap of faith. I did something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. Something

that seemed to be tugging at my heart to do and whispering to my soul “you can do it! you’re meant to do it!”. So, after months of taking planning action and listening to the forces within me, I gave notice at my nine to five and said it out loud “I am going out on my own, to start my own business.” Hallelujah! That felt good!

Amazing. No other way to describe it. I feel AMAZING. My heart is full with pure joy and my mind is in agreement that I made the right decision. Peace? Could this be what being at peace feels like? When your heart and your mind are in agreement and confidence flows through your veins? Whatever it is, I like it!  I know I have a long road ahead of me and I am going to work my buttocks off, and that excites me! The challenge of a new day, a new era in the life of Ally. Can I get an AMEN?

And when I thought I couldn’t smile any more than I already was, I got a text message from my nephew, on his **30th birthday informing me of his engagement. “Mawage, that bwessed awangment, that dweam wifin a dweam…”, The Princess Bride, anyone? (**Yes, I have a 30-year-old nephew. That always seems to throw people off. Big family. Seven kids. I’m the youngest, separated by 22 years from the oldest.)

I almost cried when I read his news, and immediately went into crazy aunt mode asking for the details! I am so happy for and so proud of him. He’s an amazing man doing great things in this world. He and his wife-to-be are both teachers; educating and nurturing our most precious resources – our children. He just applied to a doctorate program in Urban Education, and I have no doubt that he will get in and become a great leader in educational research and policy. And now he’s getting married!

So, my nephew found his true love and took a leap of faith into the sanctity of marriage and the next step along the way on the path to his happily ever after, and well, so did I, minus the sanctity of marriage part.

“And wuv, tru wuv, will fowow you foweva…”. I hope so!

One of THOSE days I tell ya! One of THOSE beautiful days.
