I agree that no life is a waste–and that addiction is a powerful thing. As someone who has friends and co-workers who have struggled with alcoholism and drug-addiction, I realize what an uphill battle fighting the addiction will be for them for the rest of their lives. They need the love and support of those around them, not judgment.

Kurt_Vonnegut : I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, “If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.”

I have to keep reminding myself of this because I think a lot of people forget to notice when they do things that make them happy, like you just mentioned.
